Operation Baby Rescue
The Crisis
One out of every two children in Guatemala suffer from chronic malnutrition. For most villages, basic health care is two hours away while the nearest hospital is typically four hours away. Poor water conditions, lack of medical information, limited supply of clean drinking water, and absence of resources only worsen the problem for already struggling children. 50% of child deaths in Guatemala are nutrition related and, without intervention, this problem is only expected to continue and worsen.

The Solution
Our International Mission Partner, Hope of Life, has one of the most proactive baby rescue operations we've ever seen. They are actively rescuing an average of 2 children each week from villages up to 5 hours away. The baby rescue process entails the following:
-Scouts employed by Hope of Life identify needs in local communities and begin conversation with parents
-An agreement is made for Hope of Life to partner with local municipalities to transport the child
-A rescue truck/jeep is sent to the village with a medical team, translator, and rescue team. Oftentimes, the team hikes the last portion of the journey on foot just to reach these mountain communities.
-The baby and mother are then transported to Hope of Life's hospital where they stay for two weeks receiving top medical care, medication, and Gospel transformation.
-The mother and child are then returned to their home and continue to receive care in the form of well visits, formula, food bags, and more for several months.
-100% of these costs are sponsor funded and have no impact on the rescued baby's family

The New Problem
Hope of Life's current fleet of rescue vehicles is aging and parts are difficult to find for their jeeps. With over 100,000 mountain miles, these jeeps are overheating and potentially limiting the ability of Hope of Life to reach and rescue more children. The need for rescues isn't going away anytime soon and we've seen first hand how God is using Hope of Life to make earthly and eternal impacts in the lives of Guatemalan families.

Where Advance Global Comes In
After being a part of a baby rescue this May with my son, we knew shortly after that God was calling us to step out in faith to do something. With the purchase of a new rescue truck, Advance Global and our sponsors have the opportunity to directly play a role in rescuing 1000's of babies throughout the mountains of Guatemala. We know this is a big dream, but God's already shown us time and time again that no dream is too big for Him! Once we raise the funding, the truck will be purchased, wrapped, uplifted, and transported to Hope of Life in Guatemala where it can be put to work right away!
